Caleb Thomas Brennan

2007 – June 2, 2026

Boise, ID

“He has outsoared the shadow of our night.”
— Percy Bysshe Shelley, Adonais

Caleb Thomas Brennan, 18, of Boise, died on June 2, 2026, two weeks after he graduated from Timberline High School.

Caleb was the kid who stayed after practice to help pick up the cones. He ran cross-country for four years, never won a race, and never missed one either. He played bass in a garage band that knew exactly four songs, collected terrible thrift-store sweaters, and could make his little sister laugh until milk came out of her nose, which he considered his best work.

He worked weekends at a bike shop on Vista Avenue and was saving for a used truck and a summer of fly-fishing the Payette with his grandfather. In the fall he was going to start at Boise State to become an X-ray technician, because, he said, he wanted a job where he could help people without having to wear a tie.

Caleb is survived by his parents, Kevin and Dana; his sister, Lily; his grandparents, Tom and Sharon Brennan and Rosemary Cruz; and more friends than our living room could hold.

A celebration of Caleb's life will be held Saturday, June 13, at 2 p.m. in the Timberline High School gym. Wear a terrible sweater if you have one. The family has set up the Caleb Brennan Running Fund to help Timberline runners pay for shoes and race fees.
